Al cinema! Evelin Stark

La mia esperienza cinematografica più memorabile è legata a quanto successo molti anni prima - il film che mi ha fatto capire la magia del cinema, Ardente Paciencia dell’autore e regista cileno Antonio Skármeta. Dove sono cresciuta non c'erano cinema in giro, e quindi la mia unica possibilità di vedere film era in TV. Un giorno facevo zapping e sono finita a guardare questa scena in cui il goffo postino del film di Skármeta cerca disperatamente di trovare una metafora per la bellezza della donna che sta ammirando, usando Pablo Neruda come suo suggeritore (sì: Il Postino si basa su questo pellicola!). Che bella storia - così semplice, così poetica, così magica!

Non avevo registrato il film, così ho comprato il libro con lo stesso titolo dello stesso autore, e l’ho letto più e più volte, ricordando ogni scena del film. 

Circa dieci anni dopo, ero una studentessa a Innsbruck, e facevo la volontaria al festival del cinema (lo stesso di cui oggi sono curatrice), e Antonio Skármeta in persona è venuto al festival per presentare Ardiente Paciencia all’interno di una retrospettiva! La prima occasione che mi si è presentata per vedere questo film dall’inizio è stato il momento in cui ho incontrato il suo creatore! Ho ancora la pelle d'oca nel ricordare questo momento! Ovviamente ero così entusiasta di vedere finalmente quel film sul grande schermo che non riuscivo a spiccicare una parola. Ma alla fine gli ho portato il libro e chiesto l'autografo. Lui mi ha guardato negli occhi e ha scritto: "Para Evelin: Los puntitos en los ojos - Maravillas que! El puntito Chileno, Antonio", ecco la mia metafora personale con l'uomo che mi ha svelato la poesia del cinema per la prima volta.

My most memorable cinema experience is related to many years before – the film that made me realise the magic of cinema, ARDIENTE PACIENCIA by Chilean author and director Antonio Skármeta. Where I grew up there was no cinema around, so my only chance to see films was on TV. One day I zapped through the channels and ended up on this scene of the clumsy postman in Skarmeta's film trying hard to find a metaphor for the beauty of the woman he admired, using Pablo Neruda as his advisor (yes, IL POSTINO is based on this film!). What a beautiful story – so simple, so poetic, so magical! I hadn't taped the film, so I bought the book with the same title by the same author and read it over and over remembering every scene from the film. About ten years later, I was a student in Innsbruck volunteering at the film festival (the one I am now working for as a curator), Antonio Skármeta himself came to the festival to present ARDIENTE PACIENCIA in a retrospective! My very first chance to see this film is the moment I meet its maker! I'm still getting goose bumps remembering this moment! Of course, I was so overwhelmed by finally seeing the film on the big screen, I could hardly say a thing. But I brought the book and asked for his autograph. He looked me in the eye and wrote: „Para Evelin: Los puntitos en los ojos – que maravillas! El puntito Chileno, Antonio,“ my own personal metaphor by the man who made me see the poetry of cinema for the first time.
